CTV Genre Targeting 10 Genre targeting is an additional lever advertisers can pull on their CTV Spots campaign to increase transparency into where their ads are running. It enables advertisers' greater control over where they are running through the ability to include certain genres, which allows brands to scale across even more publishers, or exclude certain genres without having to remove an entire list of publishers. 85% of ad requests are sent with the genre field, providing advertisers the opportunity to create scalable programmatic deals based on genre since publishers send it so frequently. Genre targeting can be used as a proxy for audience. For example, 75% of sports viewers worldwide are male. If you are interested in reaching a male heavy audience, it would be in your best interest to target the sports genre. Source: Statista.
